Snell is an expert on HAZMAT emergency planning and response.
He has been speaking to groups around the country regarding

David Dewhurst
Texas Land Commissioner, Chariman The
Governor's Task Force on Homeland Security and Candidate for
Texas Lieutenant Governor |

|
Land Commissioner David Dewhurst, is a native Texan, proud
veteran and
successful, conservative businessman.
As Land Commissioner, Dewhurst manages more than 20 million surface and mineral acres of state land to earn more money for education and serves as
Chairman of seven state boards, including the School Land Board, Veterans
Land Board, Coastal Coordination Council, and is a member of the important
Legislative Redistricting Board.
Since taking office in January 1999, Dewhurst has significantly reduced the
budget and work force of the Land Office, turned back money to Texas' taxpayers, certified almost $1 billion in below market loans to Texas
veterans to stimulate the Texas economy, and helped protect our environment
by restoring our beaches and bays and putting the physical safety of Texans
first.
Commissioner Dewhurst began his business career in the mid-1970s after serving his country as an
officer in the U.S. Air Force, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the U.S. State Department. In 1981,
he founded Falcon Seaboard, which today is a diversified energy and investments company
based in Texas. An early developer in the mid-1980s in the electric cogeneration business, David Dewhurst has
earned a reputation as an innovative, successful businessman.
Dewhurst is no stranger to creating jobs for Texans or making a payroll.
Because he lived through and rebuilt his company after the oil and gas and
real estate bust in the early 1980s, he is no stranger to overcoming economic adversity, making the most out of available resources, and making
sure companies are run efficiently and effectively. Commissioner Dewhurst has served as Chairman of a state advisory board, on a
state commission, the Governor's Business Council and on a Presidential
Commission on foreign affairs.
David Dewhurst also has been a long time community and civic leader in his
hometown of Houston and throughout the State of Texas. He still serves on
numerous civic and charitable boards.
Dewhurst, who speaks Spanish, received his BA from the University of Arizona, where he played basketball. He breeds and raises purebred cattle in
West Texas, and is a team roper.
