Honoring HPD Lt. Gary Scheibe - Officer of the Year 2006 |
Left to right - Lieutenant Gary Scheibe, a 23 year member of the Houston Police Department, who is presently assigned to the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety & Homeland Security, is awarded the Public Safety & Law Enforcement Officer of the Month Award by the Houston Chapter of ASIS, International for his continuing exemplary work in the area of Homeland Security. Lieutenant Scheibe was the Operations Chief for the In-Processing of Katrina Hurricane Mega Shelter Evacuees during which time a variety of agencies working under his umbrella of command received, searched the persons, luggage and vehicles, seized weapons, triaged, registered in and assigned temporary shelter for over 65,000 people in the span of a couple of days. Lieutenant Scheibe also been involved in two of Houston’s major events, the World Series and the Super-Bowl related events as the Hard Team Lieutenant handling and traffic management in the downtown central business district and maintaining the security hard perimeter at Reliant Stadium during the Super-Bowl itself. Lieutenant Scheibe has shown his interest in Security Management by being one of the first to earn the Master of Science in Security Management degree from the University of Houston Downtown. He is married to Michele Scheibe who is a HPD Sergeant presently assigned to the City of Houston’s Office of the Inspector General. |
