HOUSTON CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES

3/18/09

The luncheon meeting was = held at the Renaissance Hotel with Chapter Chairmen Tom Hamilton presiding. 46 members and 6 guests attended for a total of 51 attendees.

The lunch began at 12 Noo= n with a welcome to all from Tom Hamilton, Chapter Chairman 2009.

BUTCH ROBERSON, CHAPTER CHAPLIN, gave the invocation, led the Pledge of Allegiance and had a mo= ment of silence for the loss of Matt Binder, Houston Chapter Member.

TOM HAMILTON, CHAIRMEN, ANNOUNCEMENTS:

We have recently lost a local chapter member, Matt Binder, and asked if we would all keep his wife Karen and daughter Hal= ey Marie in our prayers. In= stead of sending flowers, Matt’s family requested donations be made to Haley Marie’s college fund.&nbs= p; Details will be posted to the web site.
The October luncheon will be an “off site” luncheon meeting. It will be held at Space Center Houston. Due to several other Chapter activities in October, we will have this lunch meeting the 4^{th
Wednesday in October, on 10/28.
There will be two sign up sheets. One sign up sheet will be for=
the
meeting and the other will be for a free tour of Space Center Houston.=

This will be the last lunch meeting at the Renaissance Hotel. The r= esults from the Chapter’s member survey indicated the preference of ano= ther venue vs. increasing the cost for the lunch. Therefore, the Chapter is loo= king at several locations with a focus on price, free parking, and food qua= lity and menu flexibility. We will post the new location on the web site and list it on the direct email blast that goes out announcing the upcoming meeting.

The golf tournament location for 2009 is Willow C= reek Golf Club.
Date is 10/19, start time is 9AM
We are working on sponsors and teams to commit to playing

Trea= sury:

Treasury reports were placed on each table for review. We are in good financial standing
Expenses may seem a little high due to paying both 1/09 & 2/09 lunch expenses
We still have over 400 members that have not paid their dues for some reason or the other. If you are just not intereste= d in renewing for the year, simply email Chris and let him know and he will stop asking you to pay your dues.

RANDY SIMPSON, TRAINING AND SEMINAR CHAIR

The annual seminar is set.
It will be a one day event
Date will be 6/3/09, start at 7:30AM and conclude= at 5PM
Details will be available in a couple of weeks
Location-AIG Headquarters, good central location, free parking, ample meeting space and reasonable lunch pricing
Certification for ethics and CEU credits will be issued

FIRST EV= ER FAMILY EVENT, FAMILY PICNIC
It will be sometime in October when the weather g= ets a little cooler
The menu has yet to be decided but details will be given as they develop
It will be fun event for entire family and a chan= ce for the Chapter to give back to the members

MIKE MALLON, VICE CHAIRMEN 2009 Introduced the “Officers = of the Month”

This month we are honoring four Harris County Sheriff's Deputies.

All four of these sheriff deputies responded to an apartment fire that was fully in flames.&n= bsp; It involved multiple buildings with residents still inside. Not only did these four sheriffs&#= 8217; bravely risk their lives to evacuate those still inside but also assisted a fellow deputy who had burning embers on his head and throughout his hair. For these efforts the Houston Chap= ter of ASIS decided to award all four of these brave men.

A brief break was taken to allow everyone to finish th= eir lunch before our keynote speaker.

Tom Hamilton introduced this month’s speaker, Mr. Howard Belfor, Southern US Regional VP ADT and ASIS International Physical Security Council Chairman 2008 & 2009.

Howard Balfor asked if an= yone had any questions for him on his presentation and thanked everyone for their ti= me and attention.

Tom Hamilton presented a plaque of appreciation to Howard Bal= for for speaking to our Chapter.

Howard Belfor drew a n= ame for the $50.00 AMEX gift card.

Chairman Hamilton announc= ed that Andrew Bland III, SAC with the FBI Houston office would be our speaker for next month. With no other new busi= ness, the lunch meeting was concluded at 1:20PM.
