Mr. Balderaz with his wife thanks ASIS International Houston Chapter for scholarship.

My name is David Balderaz. I am a married father of three and a Houston Police Officer. In 1999, I was a proud recipient of an ASIS Scholarship. In 2002, I received my Master of Science Degree from the University of Houston Downtown. Without the Scholarship, I would have never have dreamed of continuing my education past the bachelor level.
The scholarship provided me with the opportunity to purchase a much needed home computer that has benefited the whole family. Prior to the scholarship, I was typing all my research papers on an electric typewriter. The computer has not only provided a new learning environment but also has provided a new bonding experience for the whole family. Since graduation, the computer has afforded me new opportunities both at home and at work, which would not have been previously possible.
In conclusion, my family and I would like to express our gratitude for the generosity of the ASIS members. As a result of such generosity, I have become the first in my family’s history to have achieved such an educational milestone. Thank you.

David Balderaz
